Whaley's Announces Monday, May 16 Opening
Whaley's is opening this Monday, May 16 in Navy Yard. A seafood and oyster restaurant is just what the neighborhood needs. We can expect "shellfish towers, crudos, a selection of seafood-focused plates and a rotating family-style platter for sharing". You can drool over the menu here.
The big windows with high ceilings make for an inviting, bright space. In the past few weeks, Whaley's has been buzzing with folks coming in and out. Last night, a peek inside showed a hubbub of activity with staff preparing for Monday's debut.
A Sneak Peek at Whaley's
The Washingtonian reports, "Whaley’s, a 66-seat seafood venture in the Navy Yard/Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. The eatery, fittingly named after an 18th century commodore of the Maryland navy, will open for dinner service starting on Monday, May 16 (lunch and brunch will follow)." Along with the inside seating, they will have two patios overlooking the river. (I'll let you know if it's dog-friendly!)
The beverage menu led by Brian Zippin of DGS will feature a robust list of sparkling options. What's better than champagne and oysters?
According to Open Table, Whaley's has been booked 11 times already today. Tucked in the Lumber Shed next to renowned Italian restaurant Osteria Morini, it's safe to say that Navy Yard is now on the food map.
